Recently recognized with an East Coast Music Award, Gina Burgess presents her debut album, ISNOW, accompanied by her full band and the 7 piece contemporary drum dance troupe, the Anuri Drum Dancers from Iqaluit, Nunavut. This is a visually stunning show combining the electric youthful energy of the Anuri Drum Dancers with the experience and sophistication of Gina Burgess and her band: Jordan Stephens- double bass, Greg Woolner- drum kit, and Olivia Chislett- contemporary Inuit throat singing. Reflecting her years living part time in Nunavut, ISNOW gives rise to the images and soundscapes of the north. These original compositions highlight the intersection of jazz, Celtic, folk, classical, klezmer, contemporary Inuit throat singing and Qilautiit drum dancing. ISNOW is a must-see, cross-cultural collaborative event not to be missed.
