MusicNL presents some of the best Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Artists for the Canadian Folk Music Awards! Featuring: Darcy Scott Ana & Eric Quote the Raven Kubasonics.

Darcy Scott‘s passion for creating rhythm began as a child and has led to him performing as a percussionist, guitarist, and singer-songwriter on stages throughout his home province of Newfoundland and Labrador. His debut EP, Wasted Spaces, was released in June 2023 to the delight of his growing fan base. Wasted Spaces is a collection of stories inspired by his ability to observe and interpret the world around him. A respected musician and songwriter, Darcy’s songwriting and stage presence have been called engaging and beyond his years and earned him the 2023 MusicNL Award for Folk/Roots Artist of the Year.

Ana & Eric, a Brazilian duo based in St. John’s, blend bossa nova with indie-folk, showcasing their musical diversity across Brazil, Europe, and Canada. Their 2020 EP, featuring “Hope” and “Lights My Way,” garnered nominations at the 2021 ECMA and MusicNL Awards. The 2023 debut album, “Our House From Here,” and singles “I Can See Our House From Here” and “Manhã de Abril,” earned widespread acclaim in Brazil, Portugal, and Canada, with a 2024 ECMA Global Recording of The Year nomination and three 2023 MusicNL Award nominations.

As a three-time MusicNL group of the year, Quote the Raven seamlessly merges Americana-Folk Music with East Coast storytelling, sharing tales of a small-town band experiencing the world. With widespread tours across Canada and dates in the US, Trinidad, and Germany, the duo have an adventurous 2024, enchanting audiences at the Port Fairy Folk Festival and Blue Mountains Folk Festival in Australia, along with performances in Scotland, Ireland and England.

Kubasonics are arguably Newfoundland’s finest Ukrainian band. This award-winning group combines top-flight musicianship spiced with quirky humour, a dizzying array of exotic traditional instruments, and an eclectic high-energy stage show. Kubasonics mile a minute speed-folk, Eastern European dance grooves, and hybrid musicality is an unforgettable experience.
