An Evening of Odditease returns to the Festival of New Dance for a 5th year of variety. Odditease is a space for short works to play out in front of a reactionary audience. Hoots, hollers, screams and laughs are all on the table. Performers from NL and away, crossing disciplines of burlesque, drag, poetry, experimental dance, clown, and more. Odditease invites the audience to experience a diverse palette of performance art, relax into the levity, and taste what each entertainer has to offer.

Curated by Josh Murphy "An Evening of Odditease" presents Gay Jesus and Scarlet Delirium with acts by Madame Daddy, Priscilla Dawn Under, Rameez Karim, Robyn Breen, and Vanessa Cardoso. Hosted by \garbagefile.

Pulp/Pulpe by Gay Jesus is a love letter to trans and non-binary people and the loudness with which they deserve to be loved. Featuring original poetry and sound design, the piece was inspired thanks to Rosie Bourgeoisie and premiered at ThemFatale for Montreal Pride ’23. It’s been immortalized as a music video by Queer Collective when Gay Jesus was selected as one of their OUTLOUD winners and been savoured by international audiences in his smashing debuts at the Toronto Burlesque Festival and as a Featured Artist at the Austin International Drag Festival. Penned onto a world that tells trans people they can only bebe loved in the dark, this piece pulls back the bed sheets swirling audiences down to a simmer and sinking a bite that would make Eve proud. Pulp/Pulpe digs into your rind, peels away your pith, and celebrates trans and non-binary bodies as sacred fruit.

Sisiutl by Scarlet Delirium draws inspiration from one of the most renowned sea monsters of the Kwakitul People, this piece embodies a specific West Coast spirit unlike any other: the Sisiutl. Scarlet Delirium is a multi award winning Burlesque Artist, Costumer and Lingerie Designer who hails from the Land of the Head Hunters. A Kwakiutl Indigi-babe by day and by night, her signature saunter and slow burn style has taken her to stages across North America since 2010.
