Cove Pond: Live @ Theatre Hill

Cove Pond blends moody folk with ambient alt-country, crafting intimate, atmospheric songs rooted in Newfoundland’s stark beauty. The project is a collaboration between Laura Penney and her husband Scott Yetman, based in Paradise, NL. Laura’s bilingual songwriting draws from memory, nature, and tradition, while Scott’s layered percussion and electric textures create a cinematic backdrop.

 

Laura’s debut song Papercuts won the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts and Letters Award in 2009. After years away from the stage, she returned in 2023 with introspective new material, including Black-capped Chickadee, a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. Her French song Malgré le verglas was nominated at the Gala de la Chanson de Caraquet, and she recently earned another Arts and Letters Award for La terre donnée à Caïn.
