Evan Smith

Evan Watts Smith has spent the last 15 years cultivating a career as a versatile musician and performer. He served as resident music director for the Stephenville Theatre Festival (2008-2013) and has subsequently music directed numerous productions including: Mamma Mia, Once (Theatre St. John's), Be More Chill (Best Kind Productions), We Will Rock You, Kinky Boots (TADA Events), more than a dozen productions with Spirit of Newfoundland and served as associate music director for the The Hockey Sweater (Segal Centre) and Come From Away in Gander, NL. Evan has headlined with Jazz East Big Band (Sinatra at the Sands) as well as the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra Symphonique de Sherbrooke (The Music of Elton John and Billy Joel). Recently Evan has played lead roles in Rocky Horror Picture Show, Elf the Musical and Jersey Boys and this past Fall made his directorial debut with Kander and Ebb's Cabaret (TADA Events). As an educator, he has served as vocal coach for both Sheridan College's Musical Theatre Program and MUN School of Music. Currently he coaches musical theatre privately and serves as co-director of the Vocal Musical Theatre Intensive. This Spring Evan will be releasing his debut original album Turn On the Dark.
