Come celebrate our local poetic talent—and read some of your own work on the Theatre Hill stage—with a night of poetry and prose hosted by the fantastic Katherine Abbass.
Katherine Abbass (she/her) is a queer writer of Lebanese descent. Her work has appeared in magazines such as Room, The Malahat Review, THIS, and Canthius. She has been nominated for two Alberta Literary Awards, an Alberta Magazine Award, and in 2021, she won the Riddle Fence Fiction Contest. She is pursuing her MA at Memorial University.

Maggie Burton is a writer and musician from Brigus, Newfoundland and Labrador. She is the author of Chores (2023) and A Temporary Grace (2026), both published by Breakwater Books. Burton holds a Bachelor of Music from Memorial University (2013) and is currently studying in its Doctor of Medicine program.
Mercy Alberta is an emerging multidisciplinary artist who blends poetry with fibre and sound to explore identity, environmental relationality, and decolonization. Her work engages intergenerational and multi-species perspectives, inviting audiences into the unknown. She is co-founder of the Low Tide poetry collective and has been published in A Fine Line and Paragon.
