Selina Boland is a multi-faceted Canadian artist whose journey into the world of music has been marked by her heritage, geography, innovation and drive. Selina was born in Newfoundland to beloved Lukey's Boat folk singer, the late Laverne Squires. Her musical influences include Traditional Newfoundland, Folk, and 60’s Rock. Writing and performing professionally in a range of styles from folk to electronic since 2011, Selina has toured Canada, the US, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, Ireland, Mexico and the UK.
Now with six albums and seven award nominations, she is performing regularly and has just completed a song produced by Multi-Grammy Award Winning, Greg Wells for his upcoming Christmas Album in 2024. She is releasing new singles off her sixth album, Take My Heart and Run, in Jan, 2025 and is touring between Newfoundland and Ontario to promote them.
Selina's recent albums Take My Heart and Run (2024) and All These Hours (2023) landed her nominations in Sept, 2023 and Aug, 2024 for Alternative Artist of Year Award.
She was also nominated for awards such as Electronic Artist of the Year for her album My Chalk Stuff (2022), Inspirational Artist of the Year for her album, The Cold (2019) as well as Female Artist of the Year and Pop/Rock Recording of the Year at the MusicNL Awards for her album , Second Chances (2015) which she promoted on her cross-Canada tour.
Selina’s singles, Orphan and Hero reached the Top Ten in the NL section of the National Song writing Competition in 2008. Orphan also served a greater purpose, raising funds for the Bring Me Hope Foundation in China. Her debut album, Defined is Confined (2011) featured the powerful track, A Man Riding a Donkey which was selected for the iTunes AMAZING Compilation, a project aimed at raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. Her work for women’s causes has been varied and continues to this day.
