Hadestown – Teen Edition, April 29 – May 2
HADESTOWN tells the ancient story of Orpheus and Eurydice, set to the tune of a folk, jazz, and blues infused musical theatre score. In a post-apocalyptic world, the Underworld is a soulless industrial complex where the workers toil endlessly and lose all sense of individual identity. With Hermes telling the audience the well-known tale from Greek mythology, Orpheus ventures past the River Styx and charms Persephone with his music, to save Eurydice from Hades, and to write a song that will end the winter and bring the spring.
Intertwining themes of love, hope, poverty, power, and the incredible impact of art, HADESTOWN is a powerful, heart-wrenching yet hopeful, deeply theatrical musical.
