Turncoat Hill – King’s Point

September 3 – 8, 2024
The Majestic Theatre, St. John’s, NL

Presented by Terra Bruce Productions, Turncoat Hill is a King’s Point Theatre production. Written by Rory Lambert, Turncoat Hill takes us to King’s Point, NL in 1905, where the community is a beehive of activity. Mining discoveries and the prospects of a railway line connecting this sleepy little outport to the Gulf of St. Lawrence promise to usher in an era of prosperity. The area is electrified, and all can feel it, including teenagers Thomas and Beth. These young lovers find themselves forced to meet late at night, away from the prying eyes of their parents and the clergy. They walk alone, along the dark and winding path that follows the shoreline. They meet at Turncoat Hill, a place both supernatural and serene. And it is there that their forbidden courtship is witnessed by the sky and the stars, the waves and the wind, the beach and the boughs.
