| After a 15 year career in the music business, Evan Watts Smith has become known as an entertainer, singer, pianist, actor and director. On May 16th, he is going to add songwriter to the list with the release of his debut album Turn On the Dark. “Writing songs is something I’ve always been enamoured with but never made the time to pursue. I’ve had a lot of work playing the incredible music of other artists which all came to a head for me when I got to perform the music of Elton John and Billy Joel with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. It truly felt like the pinnacle of what a cover artist can accomplish. And so I crashed pretty hard afterwards, picked myself up and thought ‘What’s Next?’. And then I realized it was finally time to start writing my own music.” The show will include all the original songs from the album and some covers all backed by his incredible band featuring Elliot Dicks on Drums, Mark Peddle on Bass, Nick Earle on guitars, a fantastic horn section and some special guests!
